Therapy Horse Visits
Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue and Sanctuary - Bringing hope to those in need
- Our miniature therapy horses visit local Retirement Residences, Long-Term Care Facilities and Hospitals during the summer months.
- We have visited many facilities -- Hamilton General Hospital, Douglas Memorial Hospital, Queenston Place, Maple Park Lodge, Gilmore Lodge, Royal Henley Retirement Community to name a few.
- Our minis -- Houston, Chewy and Moose, provide much needed love to the seniors in our community. On occasion, we also bring our newest therapy horse, Mickey, out to visit.
- Our Therapy program works with our Youth Program, as they assist in handling the minis during the visits.
- For many of the people our minis visit, we hear so many heartwarming stories. It may be the first time they have met a miniature pony, or they are reminded of growing up on farms and having similar animals.
- Nothing is better than to see the love and care provided by these gentle souls.
Youth Helping Horses
- Our Youth and Teen program was designed to educate our youth in all aspects of horses and their care.
- The program takes place on Saturday's at the Rescue.
- Our youth program offers the opportunity for high-school students to fulfill volunteer hour requirements, while moving forward in their exploration of opportunities in Special Education, Agriculture, Equine Specialties, Community Fundraising, Animal Welfare, Rescue and so much more.
- This program also encourages our youth to interact with our Therapy Program participants.

Community Outreach
Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue and Sanctuary - Bringing hope to those in need
On-Site Visits: At Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue and Sanctuary, we encourage different groups to visit the farm, such as Community Living, March of Dimes, Port Cares and Anchors Away to name a few.
Community Events: Last Chance attends many Community Events, such as Ridgefest and Port Colborne Canal Days, as part of our fundraising, and to raise awareness of our charity, and the work we do within the community. We also are invited to bring our ponies to other events hosted by local businesses such as Rona, PetValu and Golf Tournaments
Fundraising Events : On occasion, the Rescue has been invited to participate, or attend fundraisers that take place from other Charities and Community Groups. We have worked closely with the Lions Club of Ridgeway and Let Pets Live Foundation.
