There are some stories that begin with uncertainty, some with neglect, and some with a horse simply running out of options. At Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue and Sanctuary, those stories are given something they desperately need—a place to begin again.
On September 19th, the sanctuary will welcome the community for Hooves & Harvest, a fundraiser created not simply to raise money, but to bring people closer to the animals, people and volunteers behind the rescue.
Founder Sharron Wallace says the event is an opportunity for the community to see what a rescue is really about.
“People see a beautiful horse in a field, but they don’t always see the journey that brought that horse here,” says Wallace. “Every one of our residents has a story. Hooves & Harvest gives people the chance to meet them, hear those stories and understand why what we do matters.”
Guests will have the opportunity to meet the sanctuary’s newest residents, spend time with rescues and volunteers, and experience a day filled with old-fashioned community fun. Activities include The Last Chance Mercantile, Corn Roast, Penny Sale, Door Prize Raffles, Baked Table, Petting Zoo, Pony and Horse Rides, and plenty of opportunities to simply enjoy being around the animals.
For the youngest visitors, a Tigger Bouncy Castle, generously donated by Jax & Essy, will be available free for the littles.
Music will fill the sanctuary as well, with live entertainment and an open mic invitation for musicians to come, play and jam for the rescues.
The event will also introduce an important new initiative: the Stall Sponsorship Program. Families, businesses and individuals will be able to sponsor a stall in honour or memory of someone special, as a dedication, or simply as a meaningful way to support a rescue.
Wallace emphasizes that the need does not end when a horse reaches the sanctuary.
“Rescue is every day. The bills are every day. The commitment is every day,” she says. “A horse may arrive here needing everything, and our responsibility is to give them that care for as long as they need us.”
That is why September 19th matters.
Hooves & Harvest is a chance to stand beside animals who have already been through more than they should have—and help make sure their future is different from their past.
Whether you come to listen to the music, meet a rescue, bring the kids, volunteer, sponsor a stall or simply put a donation in the jar, you become part of a Last Chance story.
Because sometimes a Last Chance is all an animal needs to find a forever home.
September 19th. Come meet the rescues. Come meet the people behind them. Come be part of their Last Chance.
