In Development - "Lean On Me" Program
Here at Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue our new "Lean On Me" program will offer an educational, hands on experience that will brighten and enrich the lives of children and adults with both mental and/or physical disabilities, as well as foster children and those from low income families. Interaction with the horses and ponies will open up new opportunities for the program participants and help build self confidence as well as problem solving and communication skills. As well, there are many physical benefits, especially for a child with a physical disability.
Participants will recieve a full farm experience, meeting the animals face to face, learning how to care for the them properly and coming to know their stories. Since many of the animals come from a negative past, were neglected, suffered a physical injury, and were deemed "useless", their life stories provide an excellent illustration that no matter how bad an individual's situation may be, there is hope that a positive future lies ahead.
Donations and sponsorships allow us to continue to run programs like these for those with limited incomes.
