Nursing home residents in Welland got a visit from some furry four-legged friends. It’s not the therapy dogs they’re used to, instead 3 miniature ponies.

Thanks to everyone that came out to visit the Rescue during our Annual Christmas Open House. Although the day was cold, there were lots of treats to keep us warm, and 4 pots of Chilli to keep our tummies full! We hope everyone enjoyed their day! It is with heavy Hearts at Last Chance Horse & Pony Rescue & Sanctuary we announce the passing of our sweet Lucky at the age of 43 years. Lucky came to the rescue along with his friend Ruby in November 2013 after being left in a field starving. Lucky was a guardian angel to Ruby, her foal Malakye and Nika. Thank you to all the volunteers for their compassion and help. Special thank you to Dr. Blaine Kennedy for being there. R.I.P. and run free Lucky you will be missed.

What a great day for the 3rd Annual Rock the Barn on Blueberry Hill! This years event was held on August 20th, and was a perfect late summer day for a Corn Roast, and Great Music! Special thank you to all the volunteers for their hard work, the musicians - Mary Lou Minor Trio, Spencer MacKenzie & John Navarroli, Johnny Cash & June Carter Tribute Band. After a spring full of lots of rain, the LCHPR Arena needed some "uplifting" help! With the help of our tool carrying volunteers, they literally RAISED THE ROOF! What would we do without the strong arms and back of these guys - Thanks Bill, John, Chuck, Craig, John and Bob!
Thanks goes out to the Youth Group from Bethany Church in St. Catharines for coming out to the Rescue again this summer to paint the stall doors! Everything looks new and fresh! We can't thank you enough for helping us!
RIDGEFEST 2017 was amazing! The weather couldn't have been better, and it brought the crowds out! We had Pony Rides on both Saturday and Sunday, and our 4 Minis - 2%, Moose, Chewy and Sailor worked their little legs off! Thank you to everybody that dropped by our booth to meet us and say HELLO! Congratulations to all of our Penny Sale winners!

Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue and Sanctuary believes in Charity, especially during the Christmas season. This year, we were able to donate 5 Christmas gift baskets to COPE (Community Outreach Program Erie) Fort Erie. Thank you to all those that continue to support our local charities.
We couldn't have asked for another wonderful fall day for Boo at the Boo, our Annual Halloween Open House at Last Chance on October 15th. Lots of families showed up in costume to enjoy the day! The Barn looked awesome, and the new porch on the Paddock Shed couldn't have looked better, or more welcoming! Thanks to everyone that visited and got to visit the Horses and Ponies!
Congratulations to George Stoner, the winner of the Hot Rod Pedal Car. The winning ticket was drawn at the Rock the Barn Event on September 18! THANK YOU to everyone who purchased tickets at the many events that Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue participated throughout the summer.

Special THANK YOU to Rick Phillips for the use of his charming barn, Don from SaltFleet Cedar Works Hamilton for donating the cedar cooler and to everyone who came out to support Last Chance Horse & Pony Rescue & Sanctuary.
July and August have been really busy months around Last Chance, and we are so happy to share some of the hard work and improvements that have taken place this summer! With the help of our very dedicated and hard working volunteers, and the generous donations from members of our community, a portion of the funds raised from the 3rd Annual Rock N Rescue have been used to replace the fence in our front paddock!
Also, a HUGE THANKS to Chuck Goodyear! Chuck recently took the old gates from the Farm entrance on Rebstock Road, cleaned, painted and added magestic Horse Heads to the gates, which now grace the Michener Road entrance.

Donald Drohan was the original owner of one of our horses that currently resides at our Rescue, Pink Lady (Lady). We would like to than the Drohan Family for their recent donation of $310.00, which was proceeds from their winnings at the 2016 Kentucky Derby! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
