In Memory of Hope

Sharon Allen:

"In 2005 my husband and I registered this charity and established Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue. It all started with just a few horses and as time went on we saw not only how much these animals needed, but how much they could give back to our community. The rescue is located in Crystal Beach, Ontario, on a 7 acre property. It is now home to many horses, ponies, and other rescue animals as well. In January 2015, we have changed our name to Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue and Sanctuary.

Over the past few years, Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue has expanded to be not just a rescue, but an educational and therapeutic centre as well. People are given the opportunity to be with, learn about, and learn from, these wonderful animals without the incredibly high cost of ownership or the political side of show barns.

Also, individuals with disabilities as well as young adults from community living and correctional services learn the responsibility of caring for these animals, teaching them general equine welfare, and, as they bond with the horses and ponies, the therapeutic benefits of these remarkable creatures.
